SAIRA BANO’S TESTIMONIAL ON THE VISIT TO ISM

International School Maximilian was honoured to host Saira Bano, founder of The Peace Attitude Schools from May 2, 2022 to May 6, 2022. The visit was planned in order for both schools to share their experience and knowledge on the journey of becoming authorised by IB. Moreover, the staff met Ms. Bano in individual, or small group meetings for professional development and planning the inquiry together.

The feedback we received from Saira showed us that we share the same goal for quality education and that even though our schools operate in different parts of the World, we can grow together!

Below, you can read more about Saira’s experience in International School Maximilian:

“Firstly, I want to thank Sofija Filipovska for letting me visit her school and work with her teachers. It was an immensely productive visit where we both worked on our Program of Inquiry, planned units with teachers, expanded our worldview, and made some lifelong memories along the way. It was incredibly moving to see her passion for education, and her drive to do more and better was infectious.

Our schools have embarked on similar journeys to become IB authorized. I believe that seeing other schools in a transitionary period is helpful for educators seeking to implement new ideas. Without seeing a path to implementing a new concept or program, a finished product or result can be deceiving. Witnessing this progress in person was grounding for me as I embark on implementing the PYP at my school. In this light, I would say my experience has been nothing less than incredible.

Working with International School Maximilian highlighted the different ways our work overlapped. This visit allowed for organic connections to form with teachers at ISM that will further our collaborative efforts in the future.

In the end, I would like to conclude by saying that acknowledging and celebrating each other’s success was a gratifying experience. My visit to ISM was a great way to see the similar practices that our schools already implement well. I wish ISM all the best and I look forward to crossing paths in the future.”
