This weekend, a Diplomatic Charity Bazaar was held in Skopje, organized by “Dobredojde Makedonija – Welcome Centre”.
This is an event held on the occasion of World Children’s Day, which this year is being held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, organized by “Dobredojde” Macedonia Welcome Center (see here), at the “Marriott” Hotel.
A number of embassies in our country participated in the event, including the embassies of Spain, China, France, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Italy, Lithuania and Switzerland. What attracted attention were the stands of all of these countries where you can taste traditional culinary specialties. There were also interesting souvenirs and decorations that will beautify homes in anticipation of the New Year holidays. All parliamentary funds for charity this year will be used to support vulnerable children, care and children with special needs from the areas of “St. Kliment Ohridski” from Makedonski Brod and “Bratstvo Migjeni” from Tetovo.
In addition to its humanitarian character, the bazaar is also recognizable for its cheerful festive atmosphere, events with songs, musical acts and individual performances, which this year were the responsibility of students from the international school “Maximilian” from Skopje.
Thus, Tereza Mladenović on the violin performed the compositions “Biljana platno beleshe” and “Borjano, Borjanke”, Jana Chorbeska on the cello “Rhomberg Sonata E-minor”, while the school choir ensemble performed a medley of popular songs, after which performed Ana Spiridonovska and Kaja Popovska with “Por una Cabesa”.
After the good performance of these young and tendentious students, they talked with Milena Gievska Andonovska, a music teacher at the International School Maximilian, who published some of her impressions, proud of her students.
“Preparations for this year’s Diplomatic Charity Bazaar were one of those moments when you really feel proud to be from an educational institution like the Maximilian International School,” said the teacher, adding the following:
“From the first day we started preparing the program with songs, musical numbers and individual performances, it was clear that this was much more than just another project. The children not only learned new things, but also inspired each other, with their talents and the energy they invested. All of this as one family, which is the biggest victory for me. Together we created not only a performance, but also memories that will last forever.”
“It was especially a coincidence for me to see those places on the stage. It is very important for students from the youngest age to understand each other, overcome fear and stage fright and stand on stage, to show something that they have been preparing for a long time.”
“As a school, we can boast of real talents. We have students who are truly talented, students who play instruments like the violin, guitar, or cello professionally. When they went on stage in front of a large audience – parents, families, friends, but also many strangers – every note and every performance was filled with emotion. Those are the moments that they see each other,” says Milena about the students.
“What is really special about the special events is the message I send to the children – that their creativity, ideas, and work can make a difference. Thus, they learn that with joint work and dedication, they can be part of something that will inspire not only them, but also those around them. I believe that we include experiences that prepare students not only for the stage, but also for life. They learn that dreams come true with hard work, dedication, and creativity, but also to be humane, supportive, and have empathy, as well as a sense of multiculturalism, values that programs should practice unconditionally.”
“And we at IS Maximilian are here to believe in them and take them on to make all their dreams come true,” said teacher Milena from ISM.
